Using Technology to Encourage Appropriate Behavior in K-5 Students

Day 2 - Classroom Behavior

Overview

During this day’s workshop, teachers will explore strategies (including technology) to address classroom behavior. The focus will be on providing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to help encourage appropriate student behavior in the classroom, as well as having a plan for responding to inappropriate behavior in place.

Session Objectives

  • Teachers will describe PBIS and provide an example of what this approach may look like in their school or classroom.
  • Teachers will describe strategies to prevent problem behaviors and encourage appropriate behaviors.
  • Teachers will create a plan for reacting to inappropriate behavior that teaches and reinforces the appropriate behavior instead of only punishing the inappropriate behavior.
